Heavy spar, also called barite is a barium sulphate crystal. Barite can be found as thick to thin tabular crystals, usually in clusters with the crystals growing parallel to one another. Can be located in Germany and the U.S. Schalenblende is compact, fine grained sphalerite with a brown to yellow-cream color. It occurs in concentric layers with reniform surfaces. These surfaces may also contain intergrown wurtzite, marcasite, pyrite, and galena.
